First time coming into contact with organ building in his father’s workshop. Music lessons on the piano, German flute and organ.
Vocational training as an organ builder. Passed examination for master craftsman’s certificate in 1976. Further training in different workshops.
Studied the art of the French organ from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Worked on developing his own personal style. Turned away from the “modern” sound-reducing wind systems. Applied his expertise and know-how to intensify the intonation. Experimented with new possibilities for the case construction as well as for brochure design.
To date, he has rebuilt and restored approx. 50 organs.
Organ instructor at the conservatory of music in Trossingen.
Laureate of organ design competitions.
Interests: Architecture, fine arts, jazz, cooking.
Lives and works in Zell a. H. and Oberharmers-bach in the Black Forest. Two daughters, Hannah and Theresa.
